Professional Conduct Committee

The Law Society has a statutory obligation to maintain and improve the professional standards of the legal profession and to protect the public from inadequate advice and representation. These obligations are fulfilled in various ways — through education, investigation, intervention and support. The Law Society investigates complaints against solicitors, unqualified practitioners, and associates of legal practices. The Law Society ensures solicitors are ‘fit and proper’ persons for legal practice and undertakes litigation for complaints referred to the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Courts. Complaints are handled through the Law Society’s Professional Conduct Committee.

You can contact the Professional Conduct Committee directly through the Committee Secretary, Linda Mackay, on 02 6274 0300.
